The Fiesta de la Virgen Blanca in Vitoria (also known under the double "name" of Vitoria-Gasteiz) allows one to look at the curious traditions of the city. Basque folk dances, traditional music (Txistularis) and huge Spanish Fiesta dolls (gigantes y cabezudos) will provide you with spectacular entertainment. The fiesta will be held from August 4 to 9.

The first day of the holiday is marked by the fact that at 6 pm the mayor of the city launches a rocket (el txupinazo), followed immediately by a mysterious Celedón puppet the size of a man. She descends from the church of San Miguel and flies over the entire Plaza de la Virgen Blanca to Postas Street, seemingly due to her open umbrella.

Dressed in the traditional Alava shirt and with a red tie around his neck, the puppet man suddenly disappears and his quickly replaces the present in the same clothes that cause the enthusiastic roar of the crowd.
