The history of the Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveevsky monastery dates back to the 70s of the 18th century, when the stone Kazan church was built under the direction of Mother Alexandra (Agafia Melgunova in the world).
The Kazan church in Diveevo, consecrated in 1780, had two chapels: in the name of St. Nicholas and St. Archdeacon Stefan. Mother Alexandra organized a community here that was run by the elders of the Sarov Monastery according to the strict charter of spiritual penance.
After the exit from the gate the Monk Seraphim of Sarov took charge of the women's monastery in Diveevo
Diveevsky monastery expanded, and by 1826 the number of sisters was 40 people, then the church of the Nativity of Christ and the Nativity of the Virgin was attached to the Kazan church in 1829. After 35 years in the center of the monastery the Holy Trinity Cathedral was elevated, and at the end of the 19th century a bell tower was erected in five tiers.
In 1861 the Kazan community was officially transformed into the Seraphim-Diveevsky Monastery. By the beginning of the 20th century, he numbered more than a thousand novices.
