Laduvane

Laduvane, or fortune-telling - a traditional rite in Bulgaria, which is held among unmarried girls who want to get married as soon as possible. Usually it takes place on Ivanovo day (traditionally on June 24 in Bulgaria), but in some regions of the country it falls on New Year's Eve.

Preparation starts early. In the bowler with spring water, along with the symbols of fertility - oats and barley - the girls lower their rings, tied with a red thread to the bouquet. The bouquet is usually made up of ivy, wild geranium, basil. The bowler is left for the night in the open air and after ritual dancing next to it begins a divination that tells the girls their fate.
