Russian citizens continue to relentlessly delight the representatives of the Austrian tourism industry: in the first nine months of 2013 almost 400 thousand of our compatriots visited the Mozart Country.
As explained by Interfax-Tourism, from January to September, Russian tourists in total spent in the hotels of Austria about 1.6 million nights - this is 9, 2% more than the same period a year earlier. The peak of trips was traditionally in January-April: it is during this period that the local ski resorts receive the largest number of visitors.
The most popular Austrian destinations among Russians are Tyrol (40% of the total tourist flow), Vienna (30%) and Salzburg (18, 5%). On average, 40,000 Russian tourists visit Austria every month.
Recall that in the first half of this year, Russians ranked third in the number of overnight stays in the Austrian capital: from January to June this figure was 363 thousand nights (+14% to last year's mark).
